Mojito
Cuba's national cocktail, the Mojito is said to have been created in the late 1800's by sugar cane harvesters who believed that the rum they had featured too hard of a bite (bitterness). As a result, they started adding a little water and sugar cane juice to sweeten and soften the rum up. This mixture gradually evolved into the commonly known Mojito: a traditional mix of rum, mint, sugar, lime, and soda water.
